1READER 1:There once was a grasshopper
2READER 2:Who was in a party mood
3READER 3:She sang away the summer days
4READERS 1,2,3:And ate up all her food!
5GRASSHOPPER:Oh, yes I did it, yes I did
6I ate up all my food!
7ALL:Hey grasshopper Gal!
8Hate to burst your bubble
9There’s a moral to this tale
10YOU’RE headed straight for trouble!
11NARRATOR:When winter came she realized
12She’d made a big mistake
13She hadn’t saved a thing to eat
14And how her tummy ached
15GRASSHOPPER:I haven’t saved a thing to eat
16And now my tummy aches!
17ALL:Hey grasshopper Gal!
18Hate to burst your bubble
19There’s a moral to this tale
20YOU’RE headed straight for trouble!
21READER 4:The ants who lived next door to her
22READER 5:Had planned ahead, in fact
23READER 6:Had worked throughout the summer heat
24READERS 4,5, 6:To store up food out back
25GROUP OF ANTS:Did you ever, did you ever
26Meet a group of ants so clever?
27ALL:Hey grasshopper Gal!
Hate to burst your bubble
There’s a moral to this tale
YOU’RE headed straight for trouble!
28NARRATOR:And when our dear grasshopper
29Came begging for some bread
30The ants just shook their heads and said
31GROUP OF ANTS:"You’re going to end up dead!!"
32ALL:Hey grasshopper Gal!
Hate to burst your bubble
There’s a moral to this tale
YOU’RE headed straight for trouble!
33GRASSHOPPER:O.K., O.K., I’ve heard enough!
34So what’s the moral? Tell me please!
35READER 7:I bet the moral’s full of DON’TS!
36READER 8:Don’t sing away the summer?
37READER 9:Don’t party ‘til you’re fed?
38READER 10:Don’t waste your days just having fun?
39READERS 7,8,9,10:Don’t lounge around in bed?
40ALL:NO!
41NARRATOR:The moral of this story is:
42ALL:IT’S SMART TO PLAN AHEAD!
